Hiking Therapy with Hike Tribe X Jo Woods
Hiking Therapy is a guided therapeutic walking experience hosted by Hike Tribe's Chloe Favre, with Jo Woods as facilitator.
Grounded in the Latin proverb Solvitur ambulando — it is solved by walking. This practice recognises the deep connection between mind and body: how we process emotions, shape our stories, fall into patterns, and make decisions. Through silent walking, sensory pauses, and reflective prompts, the nervous system settles and perspective naturally widens.
The goal isn't to solve your problems as you walk — though that may well happen. It's about creating the right conditions for awareness and insight to emerge, and for clarity to become possible, whatever you are working through.

What to expect
Nestled within Yarra Bend, a beautiful stretch of bushland just 4km from Melbourne’s city centre, this experience takes place along the trails of the Birrarung, where nature meets the urban landscape. This beginner-friendly hike follows scenic paths with gentle hills and some uneven terrain, offering an accessible yet immersive setting.
The experience begins with a guided walk into nature, helping you disconnect from daily pace and reconnect with your senses. As your rhythm settles, you’ll be invited to tune into your surroundings — the textures, sounds, and movement of the environment.
Partway through the hike, we’ll pause for a first guided coaching session (approximately 15 minutes), introducing reflection and awareness.
We then continue deeper into the park before a second sensorial coaching moment, offering a quieter, more introspective pause.
The walk loops back to the starting point, where we’ll close the experience with time to share reflections over warm tea and cake.
What’s Included
An 8km guided hike
Group coaching sessions by Jo Wood
Full public liability insurance
First Aid
Refreshments at the end

-
This event isn’t suitable for complete beginners. You need to be comfortable standing and walking 8km in a row and walk on uneven terrain from time to time.
-
If you come by car, park at the Studley Park Boathouse car park. If you come from North-side, best to park at Corben Oval. With public transport, from the city you can take the the Bus 200 or 207 and stop at "Yarra Bend Park/Studley Park Rd" or take the train to Victoria Station and walk 20 minutes.
-
We recommend arriving after having breakfast so you don’t get hungry during the activity. You’re welcome to bring snacks to enjoy along the trail.
-
Studley Park is a very popular place, especially on the weekend. A Park Run runs every Saturday at 8am and Studley Boathouse car park gets busy. An alternative is to park across the river(Kane's bridge) around Corben Oval.
-
Pack a comfortable day backpack with 1L of water, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat for sun protection. Wear sturdy trainers with good grip or, ideally, waterproof hiking boots and bring a waterproof jacket for unexpected rain or wind. Also consider using hiking poles to support your knees. In colder month, wear multiple layers, beanie and gloves.
-
Toilet facilities along the trail differ by location, and specific details will be provided for each checkpoints. However you will likely need to use a “bush toilet,” as we call it. To support environmental preservation, please carry toilet paper and waste bags. Please ensure all rubbish is properly disposed of, leaving no trace behind.
-
No. This is an Adult only activity.
